Exercises - Habits of success series
Exercise is very important for the healthy brain. A healthy mind in a healthy body is an old saying
and now it has been verified by various studies. It is not necessary to pump
irons; a light 20-minute walk is sufficient to keep our brain in an optimal state. All aerobic exercises including
running, swimming etc. are good for the brain.
So exercise daily and it is not necessary to do weight training or run a marathon, just a 20-minute walk is sufficient.
Other than aerobic exercises, also do brain exercises. Play
games that require focus and mental calculations like puzzles, some video
games, bridge, chess, card etc. These games are not only fun but also keep your
brain neurons and synapses active.
Learning new skill is also a good brain exercise. Learning
guitar or dancing can improve your mental performance. Learn anything that
interests you. If you do not have time or money, find alternate ways to learn
skills. If you are doing a job and do not have time and money to invest in some
new skill, you can learn a skill that will help you in your career. It can be
improving your communication skills (Join Toast Masters), taking management
classes, or learning entrepreneurship. But do one skill at a time; otherwise, you may overwhelm yourself. Complete
one skill then move to the second skill.
You can also create written a schedule
for this skill learning process.
What to do:
Aerobic exercises.
Walking or running for 20 minutes.
Eat good food and have sound sleep.
Be positive, and meditate daily.
Do not be too stressful. Think only about the things that
are under your control, not about the things that are not under your control
(Stoicism).
What not to do:
The lengthy workout is
not good, do not strain yourself.
Do
not use any supplements. (Please consult a doctor before starting or stopping
taking any supplements).
