Protestant ethics - Habits of success series
“Calvinism, in
comparison, appears to be more closely related to the hard legalism and the
active enterprise of bourgeois-capitalistic entrepreneurs.”
Max Weber
In his famous book, ‘Protestant
ethics’ Sociologist Weber has described the effect of religion on the prosperity of a society. Protestant religion
emphasizes hard work and frugality, unlike other several religions which
emphasize on sacrificial, otherworldly and non-materialistic values. The spread
of protests in England helped it in becoming a modern capitalistic economy. And
later these same ethics made America wealthiest nation on earth that ever
existed. You don’t have to become a protestant to get rich; you just have to
understand basic protestant values.
