Highly focused and say ‘No’ to distractions

“Concentrate all your thoughts upon the work at hand. The sun's rays do not burn until brought to a focus.”
Alexander Graham Bell

Successful people are specialists. They are expert in their chosen field. They know few things about many subjects and tend to know at least one subject very well. They prefer specific and technical education to generalist education. They enroll in graduate college for reasons, like job placement, networking, tradition etc.
They are highly focused in their career or business and eliminate/avoid outside distractions like social networks, unproductive tasks, gossip etc.
They work on only one or two goals at a time. They dedicate all their time, energy, and mind on one or two goals from their goals list. They know they have to achieve their goals gradually. Small initial success in achieving small goals motivates them to work hard on large goals.

To have a great life, you must have great focus. You should be present in the now. To practice focus and presence, try to see things with full awareness and curiosity. Focusing is a skill that can be developed with regular practice. Avoid multitasking, complete one task, and then only move to the next task. To increase focus, you can also categorize tasks and complete schedule tasks according to the category. Categorize tasks into family tasks, personal activities, daily tasks, important tasks, social media tasks, personal grooming tasks etc. Classify things and try to see things in their basic function, purpose, effectiveness etc. Prioritizing is a very cliché but very important. You can schedule tasks according to their importance. Daily 7-minute meditation can go a long way in improving your focus and awareness. You can read the book “The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle to enhance your awareness and focus.

Now with the risk of sounding repetitive, let me tell you one more time; you must give 100% of your focus to the task. To give 100% focus, you must be present in now and here. Never ever multitask (Except in emergency situations). While working you should put “DND” sign on social media and physical contacts. And categorize tasks in stacks and complete tasks in stacks. Do not switch between stacks frequently; it takes all your focus away. Choose a task, complete it and then move to the second task. It is important because brain takes some time in focusing on a new subject (It is like the lag time a PC take to switch between two user accounts). Also, observe the information like a sponge.
